Tonight was the 24th anniversary of WashU's Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration, held in Graham Chapel. It was an evening filled with accomplished African-American students and staff paying tribute to the fight against inequality.
One of our fellow students mentioned that her dad is from Jamaica and her mom is from India, and if it weren't for Martin Luther King Jr., her parents' interracial marriage could not happen and she wouldn't standing in front of us tonight. Also, if it weren't for MLK Jr., she would not be blessed with the many opportunities that led her to study at WashU with us. Mm so real.
