Thanksgiving Break

On the drive back up from Atlanta, I learned that eggs are real chicken babies. That was a life changing moment. Now I feel bad for eating eggs. I always thought they were unfertilized eggs, kinda like how girls just have periods. That's why I didn't feel bad eating them (now that I think about it, that's kinda a gross idea too). But its like eating an-almost fetus! Sigh... I don't know if I'll be able to cut down on eggs though.

On another note, people, I'm back.

  1. I don't think that's true... "Most commercially produced chicken eggs intended for human consumption are unfertilized, since the laying hens are kept without roosters." - via wiki. No baby chicks harmed!

But actually, regarding animal rights, I read that it's actually better to abstain from eggs than chicken just because of the way egg-laying chickens are treated.

  2. yeah, the eggs we eat are unfertilized. Some delicacies in other countries involve eating a cooked egg with a small chick fetus inside. For all my love of interesting and novel foods, it was hard for me to stomach when I tried it.

animal rights is an oxymoron. ;)
